We challenge students, youth and young professionals across the world to apply artificial intelligence to address and accelerate the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
By leveraging cutting-edge technology and ideas, participants can develop innovative solutions to the pressing challenges of our time such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. This competition emphasises the transformative potential of AI to drive positive change and encourages everyone to think critically about the ethical implications of their solutions.
The Winners of the Global AI Hackathon will be announced at the AI for Good Global Summit at United Nations Geneva, on 8 July 2025

What is the Global AI Hackathon?
Code the Future : Global AI Hackathon is an open international challenge to students, youth and young professionals from across the world, to create and apply innovative artificial intelligence solutions for achieving the UN SDGs. By leveraging the imagination, skill-set and technological prowess of the global youth and students, we can together come up with new ways to tackle the pressing challenges of poverty, jobs, inequality, climate change etc. The competition emphasises the transformative potential of AI to drive positive change and encourages students to think critically about the ethical implications of their solutions.
Why is it important for the world?
Ideas, education, music and imagination have a great power to unite the world. The AI Hackathon brings together students, youth and young professionals from across the world to collaborate, participate and develop innovative AI solutions to accelerate the UN 2030 Agenda. In a world divided by conflict and distrust, the Hackathon offers an open, inclusive and global space for students and young minds from all countries to express their optimism, hope and ideas for the future. As artificial intelligence, changes the way human society functions, the Hackathon is a timely endeavour to ensure that All Young Voices, irrespective of where they are located, which language they speak, what food they eat and which culture they belong too have a open community space to collaborate, learn and share best practises – together. In the time of global division, the Hackathon unites us all, enabling us to chart a common future together.
Where is it being held?
The Hackathon is being held across the world, online and in realtime. All countries and students from all backgrounds are welcome to join the global movement. The Hackathon is based on the principles of inclusivity, openness and innovation. It is a celebration of human scientific temper and brilliance of young minds, recognising that oftentimes the best global solutions have the humblest of origins. We welcome everyone to come and participate and Code the Future with us!
How can you participate in the hackathon?
Simply fill in the “participate now” form on this webpage and present your innovative AI solution to the world. It is short, simple and easy. Make sure you fill in all the sections of the form in order for your entry to be valid and eligible.
All entries will be considered and based on the applicability, innovation and relevance of your AI idea/ solution for achieving the SDGs, candidates will be shortlisted to proceed to the next round.
One participant/ team can submit only 1 entry. Your AI idea/ solution must be targeted towards achieving 1 particular SDG goal and be specific. If you are applying as a team, then make sure the team leader submits the entry and that you mention that you are part of a team in the project description tab of the submission form.
The further you progress in the Hackathon, the more time you will be asked to invest, ensuring that your AI ideas/ solutions are clear and concise.
The Hackathon has 3 stages in total:
Stage 1 : Participants submit their entries from across the world
Stage 2 : Entries are assessed based on their applicability, innovation and relevance in achieving the SDG goals and appropriate entries are shortlisted. The shortlisted candidates are then asked to fill a detailed form on their AI idea/ solution for achieving the SDGs.
Stage 3: Detailed assessment of the shortlisted entries takes place, following which the Finalists are invited for Live Panel Interviews with Senior Leadership of the AI Global Hackathon.
When is the deadline for entry submission?
Entries are being accepted on a rolling basis.
The winners of the Global AI Hackathon will be declared on 8 July 2025 at the AI for Good Global Summit at United Nations Geneva
Who can participate in the AI Hackathon?
There are primarily 3 categories for participation in the Hackathon:
1. School Students – Class 9 to class 12 (High School students from around the world)
2. University Students – Undergraduate, Graduate, Diploma and Researchers from around the world (Youth)
3. Young Professionals – Young professionals and apprenticeship trainees below the age of 35 yrs from across the world.
There will be 3 distinct category of awards based on the above 3 groups. Thus there will be separate awards for the best AI ideas and solutions by –
a) Students/ high school team
b) University student/ University team
c) Young Professional/ Apprenticeship trainee

The Challenge
Create, ideate, produce, conceptualise or display AI Solutions for accelerating the UN 2030 Agenda in any 1 of the SDG Goals.
